Kyoto in Cherry season
Earlier this year I was in Japan on a work trip. We managed to take a day to run down to Kyoto and it was peak cherry season. I have learned that it is actually quite difficult to do justice to cherry blossoms. They almost need to be a supporting act. You need to have some other element in the photo to help anchor and augment the blossoms. There was an awesome photo in a recent Time magazine. It was a portrait of a woman surrounded by cherry blossoms, but taken from a distance with a telephoto lens.
