The skiing out West in the US is excellent, but one thing that the slopes of Switzerland have that is unique is the number of interesting locations to have a drink at the end of the day. From venues like the “Rancher Bar”, an old barn converted into an apres-ski waterhole, to this converted bus,  one is spoilt for choice.  A few years ago, we found a little place selling cheese made right there.  The next year it had disappeared, but then we found a new one.
In the States, the ski regions are dedicated areas for the sport. This usually results in more cohesive slopes and connecting catwalks. In Switzerland, the ski slopes are crafted from active farmland.  This adds character to the experience that is hard to put into words.
