15 Reasons to visit Sierra Nevada Brewery
If you are visiting Asheville or just passing through, be sure to stop by Sierra Nevada Brewery. It is a destination that has so much to offer. Here are 15 reasons to visit:
1. The beer
It’s a brewery, so obviously you want to drink the beer! According to Piers, it was good (I am not a beer drinker). Find out which beers are currently on tap here.
2. The Taproom food
If you are a foodie, you will love the options here! The food is served tapas-style. Order a number of items for your table and they will be brought out as they are ready. We opted for Trout Almondine Salad, Pâté and Duck Fat Fries. You can view the full menu here. We loved the salad and pâté, but the fries were a little too greasy for us and not that amazing we would choose them again.
3. Tours of the brewery
Sierra Nevada offers a number of options to suit everyone. If you want more info and to get close up to the machines, choose a tour, but They even have a hike which concludes with a tasting as an option! How cool is that? Be sure to book online before you arrive.
4. Free Visitor Corridor
Those who don’t want to spend money can just view the workings of the brewery from the Visitors Corridor.
5. Beer tastings
If you just want to do the tasting part – they have that option too. It takes 30 minutes and you sample and learn about 8 beers.
6. The children’s play area
This is a very family friendly place and young children will love the play area.
7. The vegetable gardens where they grow some of their own food
What’s not to like about seeing a restaurant grow their own produce!
8. Cornhole
I love there are plenty of outside activities – free of charge. In fact, there are 2 cornhole courts available.
9. Boccie Ball
If cornhole isn’t your thing, what about boccie ball? That is also available!
10. The outdoor beer truck
If you are wanting a beer and don’t want to eat – the beer truck is your place to go.
11. The take-out style back porch food
If you don’t want to wait to be seated indoors and are happy with simpler take-out food, visit the back porch! This is a great option if you have kids as when they are done eating they can visit the play area. And the food is still interesting!
12. Live music
Below the back porch there is an amphitheater where you can often hear live music performed. The day we visited we just missed a reggae band that was about to play. Check out the lineup on their website.
13. Open every day of the week
Sierra Nevada opens at 11am every day and closes well into the evening. Check the website for current closing times.
14. The gift shop
Not only can you buy beer and bar accessories, but you can also buy a large number of products that contain beer! Everything from soap to mustards!
15. Pet-friendly
Your furry friends are very welcome to tour the grounds with you or sit with you while you eat outside.
Sierra Nevada Brewery is a venue you can return to over and over again as there are so many activities for you to enjoy – and the beer and food are great!
