I was privileged to visit Vietnam for the first time this past week. Apart from a run in with Vietnam Airlines, the experience was delightful. I was impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the Vietnamese people, even though for the most part, I could not communicate with them intelligently because of my lack of language skills. I love wandering around the streets of a town that I visit, observing the people, and trying to document what I see with my camera. Three things I noticed, one of which, is already well-known to most people.

The first observation I have already mentioned. I really felt the Vietnamese to be super-friendly and warm.

The second observation, which is well known to most people, is that Vietnam is swarming with people riding motorcycles. Crossing many roads can be hazardous to one’s health! I am almost certain my wife would be relegated to only one side of a street because she could never muster the insaneness needed to cross some of the roads. But the funny thing is I never saw a pedestrian hit or a car accident.

The third observation, maybe this is not the right term for it, is the variety of street vendors.
